TX State LP Convention nominates Kathie Glass for Governor:

Platform Changes Minor

Houston attorney and long-time LP activist Kathie Youngblood Glass received the LP nomination for Governor on Saturday, garnering a surprising 76% of the votes cast on the first ballot.

Originally a five person race, the field was narrowed considerably, first when Ed Tidwell withdrew Friday evening and again Saturday when another candidate failed to garner a nomination from the floor.  The final surprise came just before the vote was to take place when popular Collin County candidate Steve Nichols announced his withdrawal and urged his supporters to get behind Glass.

(Visit Kathie's website and/or read a story about her that appeard in the Texas Tribune.)

The delegates also adopted a platform (note: link is to 2008 platform.  2010 platform, with changes in content but not substance, will be posted soon.) as well as a handful of changes to the State Party's rules.
